Effective anti-ageing ingredient with added benefits
“Hemp” or “cannabis” can do much more than simply inducing a high. There are countless types of hemp plant in different parts of the world, and a number of these are of great use to us. The hempseed oil that we use, for example, comes from the seed of the hemp plant (cannabis sativa) which naturally contains very little THC and therefore has no intoxicating effects. In order to extract the high-quality ingredients for hemp oil, the seeds must be carefully harvested and ideally cold-pressed. As hempseed oil contains many vitamins, minerals and healthy fatty acids, it is not just a popular foodstuff, it is also highly suitable for cosmetic products. At Studio Botanic, we have recognised this potential and used it in some of our highly effective products.

Vitamins and minerals promote regeneration
Hemp oil is rich in vitamin E, as well as vitamins B1 and B2. Vitamin E is, among other things, a very popular anti-ageing ingredient, as it fights free radicals and promotes the skin’s production of collagen. It makes your skin appear smoother, fresher and younger and has regenerating effects. B vitamins also have many valuable properties. They promote blood flow and cell metabolism and can help to alleviate spots and acne.
As well as valuable vitamins, hempseed oil contains many important minerals such as calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, potassium and iron. The minerals have anti-microbial and antiseptic effects, which is particularly beneficial for brittle, chapped skin. Hempseed oil is absorbed deep into the skin and strengthens it both inside and out.

Fatty acids lock in intense, long-lasting moisture
Hemp oil is composed of more than 90 per cent unsaturated fatty acids. Particularly notable is gamma linolenic acid because it is an effective anti-ageing ingredient and promotes fresher, healthier-looking skin. Fatty acids lock in intense moisture in your skin and protect it against drying out. Fine lines disappear and your skin feels smooth and silky. It does all this without creating greasiness, as hempseed oil is absorbed well by the skin and disappears quickly, leaving almost no residue. Hemp oil is particularly good for use on the face because it doesn’t clog pores. The combination of fatty acids, vitamins and minerals ensures that cuts, scars and small nicks heal quicker and decreases scaling.
